Celebrating Success

Walk, lunch, goal weight shopping and Pokémon Go!

Saturday started as most Saturdays do; I so love our traditions! Wake up, snuggles, coffee, CNN and then go about whatever the day has to offer. Kerri comes out of the bathroom and exclaims “woo hoo!” while sporting the most beautiful smile. She had hopped off the scale and had reached a milestone weight that she hadn’t been at in over 20 years!!! I was elated! My wife works so hard on this goal and it is paying off in big ways. When we first were together and walking in downtown Omaha, we had passed a certain store and she shared how she always wanted to shop there but needed to be a certain “size” to do so. This was that “size” so I gave her the biggest hug and said, “I’m treating you to Nouvelle Eve” after our walk…she remembered our walk and was super excited.

Our first part of Saturday brought us to Fontanelle Forest for a walk with our “Progressive All Body Types Welcome” walking friends. Kerri was nostalgic upon arrival, reminiscing about trips here with the kids; many photos on the above bench, Nik’s senior pic photo shoot and various fun memories with the kids in this space. This space was were Kerri sought solace after her marriage dissolved. The forest was her church and it was our first time in this space together. I was very much looking forward to giving her some new and positive memories of the forest. We did just that! Then moved on to our next location, lunch!

Keto be dammed, we were going to eat what we wanted today! Initially, M’s was our plan but we LOVE Via Farina and after a quick convo we decided that was the place. We lucked up to have Joey as our server again, clearly family and a Pokémon Go-er too! 🥰 Kerri and I opted for the Arancini Balls and share a pizza; with honey!!! 🤤. Delicious and better than the food was how welcoming this restaurant is to our community and displays it proudly. Find your people!

Next up, shopping! As we entered the store, I told Kerri, find something you love…I got you! She dove right in and immediately found a few pieces worthy of fashion show via the dressing room. We jumped in the dressing room together and both were quickly overcome with emotion as the first outfit she picked was gorgeous and fit her perfectly!!! Happy tears and positive affirmation that all the work she’s been putting in HAS made the difference. 💕

We wrapped the afternoon walking to Gene Leahy mall, swung on swings, sat in Adirondack chairs and caught Pokémon during a “community day” event. We grabbed some eloté in a cup from a street vendor and just enjoyed being together. I love us!
