Why Not Wander…or Wonder?

Freezing and not prepared but walking nonetheless

Walking is such solace for me! Lately, as in within the past few months, I have gone back to it. It had been a while, pre-Covid times, since I was consistent with doing so. Now, it’s a daily mindful and health practice for me!

Adding to the joy that I already get by being outside; exploring, walking, feeling better (mentally, physically and spiritually)…my amazing wife had began joining me!

Her inclusion gave me so many emotions; mostly happiness as I love to do just about anything and sometimes nothing with this beautiful woman. It also made me proud as she has ongoing health challenges that she continues to work with and on; never using them as excuses to not come along. Her hip is not the best but after some advil, she puts on her shoes and is ready to go! It also made me slightly worried as I never want her to be in pain or overdo it…it’s the protector in me!

This weekend as we set off on our morning walk, Zorinsky Lake locally in Omaha was our destination. We had been spoiled with a week full of gorgeous and warm weather so we’re excited for this undertaking together. We knew the temps had dropped but not to the extent that Mother Nature decided to show us once we got underway!!!

YIKES!!! The brisk temps combined with the annoying Nebraska winds make for the most unpleasant walking conditions. We did our best to cover up, hoods up type situation for sure! My wife, Kerri, was freezing!!! I could see her teeth chatter, as she tried to hide it with her precious smile! I love her, truly and deeply. That is when I declared; we must chronicle these types of adventures! Thus, this blog and share was born!

Increasing our pace did nothing for our core temperature so we thought it best to turn back and make a quicker ending to the walk than we anticipated. However, we still did it, had our Weekend Walk. One of the many traditions we have created together and way that we can be intentional together while working to be better!

Welcome to our shared journey!
